by Don Reid Aged Leads is the name I gave to leads that were not very fresh anymore. Most leads that are over 3 days old are 'aged'. How I came to seeling these leads was all due to a visitor who came to my site and asked if I had any old leads for sale. I had thousand but had never considered selling them. We struck a deal and he bought 500. A few days later he called back and wanted another 2,000. I must admit, I was really surprised and asked him how come he wanted so many. He said he had great success calling these old leads because 'half of them had never been contacted before.' What a wakeup call that was. Since then I have had many top MLM builders tell me exactly the same thing. This is a secret that the big time network marketers use and never tell. They use what we call 'Aged Leads' because they are so inexpensive compared to real time or fresh leads and the response rate is just about as good. A personal friend of mine has a huge downline numbering in the many thousands and he always uses aged leads. One thing I must mention is he follows the training of a very well known teacher who specializes in how to call leads. Serious MLM'ers should all do these courses. Aged leads are also terrific value for beginners to practice telephone calls on. Because the aged leads are so cheap it's not a wrist slashing thing if the newbie screws up a few calls, which they will for sure. You never know they might even sponsor some new members. Using aged leads in email contact is also a very viable proposition as they all come with full contact information including time/date stamps and IP addresses. This is good proof that they opted in and gave permission to be contacted by any method, including by email. If you are going to contact leads by email, make sure you do not overpower them with a bunch of sales talk. Take it slow and build a relationship based on providing good value content and being trustworthy. In no time at all you will have a heap of interested prospects very willing to join you in your home business. Finally, aged leads are an amazingly profitable means to expanding your business into a new country. Being from a different country than the prospect you have a lot of status and they will listen to you. by Noel Swanson How do you do it? Here we will help you develop a sensible strategy for promoting your website by weeding out all of the nonsense, myths and hype. First things first, how does a website achieve top rankings? The reality is that all the search engines use their own, top secret, algorithms to rank sites. Their goal is to deliver relevant, accurate, and up-to-date information to their searching public. To achieve this, they are in a constant war against SEO experts who would seek to skew those rankings so as to put their clients at the top. There are two 'strategies' for getting top rankings: 'Black Hat Strategies' and 'White Hat Strategies' White Hat optimization is designed to deliver accurate, timely, relevant and quality information - essentially working WITH the Search Engines. Black Hat refers to strategies that try to get around that by various ways of cheating. Black Hat techniques can work, but usually only for a short period of time until all the PhD's at Google figure out what you are doing and find a way to plug that loophole - and ban you while they are at it. Though nobody can verify what works best as far as ranking factors. Given the goal of Search Engines, there are a handful of strategies that have survived the test of time, make logical sense, and have been physically proven: 1. Quality themed content, and lots of it. This goes beyond just stuffing in your keywords as much as possible. The SE's are getting better at determining themes by means of 'latent semantic indexing', which basically means using artificial intelligence to work out what the site is about, rather than just what keywords are on it. To achieve this you need to provide your keyword, certainly, and also other words and phrases that are linked to them. 2. Incoming Links. Links from 'bad neighborhoods' get you very little in the way of Google Page Rank. These links from Free-For-All (FFA) sites and link farms are not very well looked upon. Though Google does not penalize you for such incoming links, they definitely do not reward you for such. Links from authority sites, on the other hand, are worth quite a bit. Theme related sites are also quite worthy, ie if you have a computer gaming site, other gaming sites linking to you will be worth more than a website for household cleaners. To see how valuable a site roughly is in relation to others, see it's Google Page Rank, the higher it is, the more valuable the site. Eventually, Google Page Rank will probably become specific to themes, meaning you could be ranked highly for one theme and rather low for another. 3. Sites that are older -PR generally rises in time if all factors are equal. Sites that have been around for longer are more valuable than new ones due to this. 4. New sites - New sites generally get initial priority as they may have some recent, hot news, which is after all what Search Engine's are looking to deliver. Links pointing to new sites are also worthwhile as they may indicate recent news on the site being linked to. 5. Outgoing links - Too many links can be a bad thing, especially when linking to bad neighborhoods. Though bad links coming in are not penalized, ones going out certainly are. Links out to authority sites are quite worthwhile. 6. Keywords - Set your goal to get ranked for specific keywords before all else. Tag the name of your area or town to the end of the keyword if you are a local business. Keywords vary in competition. Some much more than others. 7. Unique content. This is the key to both pages that link to you and your own site itself. Search Engine's are out to deliver original content; no one wants to see multiple pages of the same information. The most common way of people letting all their hard work go to waste is to copy the same pages everyone else is using. Search Engines are quick to filter out duplicate content. These 'wrongs' can range from merely uninformed or misinformational to outright disregard, either of which can lead to the commission of social and pofessional faux pas. Blunders such as these can serve as the seeds for any temporary and therefore correctable problems, or they can bring about the destruction of the business in question. When a vast network is established for a business, news can and does circulate extremely fast throughout the professional community where it eventually filters into the many public forums where damage is especially critical. The following are a few major don'ts of which new business owners should be wary in their day-to-day practices with both colleagues and the general public. They might seem like no-brainers, but they are important enough to serve as reminders. 1) Never play 'favorites'. Different from target networking, which serves as a means for isolating those for which one's particular business is designed, playing 'favorites' is downright discriminatory in nature. This is especially true when it comes to interacting with potential clients or customers. When it comes to networking, a 'happy medium' is the more beneficial approach, especially for the new business owner who is trying to become established in her or his particular field. 3) Never cut down affiliate or competing businesses when advertising. Leverage There is a very sad story in some affiliate marketing circles and it is the story of the person that did not understand leverage. This person came up with a fantastic marketing plan for affiliate marketing and tried it on one product. That plan worked great, but because the profits that it brought in were not enough to sustain a full time income, the person gave up and heartbreakingly went back to their old job. What is the lesson here? The lesson is that people need to consider leverage when they consider how to win at affiliate marketing. Figuring out a strategy that works is hard, but once you have that strategy your next goal becomes to leverage the strategy by applying it to as many different products as possible. If you can make $100 a week selling a certain product, why not start building up your infrastructure so that you end up making $10,000 a week eventually by selling 100 products that each make $100 a week? Critical Thinking Location and leverage are two examples of things that came about as a result of critical thinking. Someone was faced with a problem (too few people interested in the general public or too little profit from selling one product) and came up with a solution by thinking on their feet. Everything that you do in affiliate marketing will require this type of critical thinking and it would be impossible to go through the hundreds of different ways that this is already true of the field. Just remember to always re-evaluate the situation you are in and try to think critically about ways that you can make it better. At this point in time there is not an online entrepreneur left who does not recognize the immense power and promise that the use of an affiliate marketing article offers. Sure, text links and banner ads are great, but when it comes to creating the kind of advertising vehicle that consumers will hold on to and even pass on to others, you cannot beat article marketing! Of course, like any other good thing there are pitfalls to avoid. As a matter of fact, the 10 deadly sins of an affiliate marketing article must be avoided at all cost, lest your company’s reputation will suffer! 1. Whatever you do with your affiliate marketing article, do not use it to spam a blog or a forum. Some self proclaimed marketers have attempted to use such articles as forum posts and while they might write different introductions for the article to make it look like an ad hoc posting in response to another forum poster, within a few short sentences it becomes painfully obvious that the post is little more than an unwelcome sales pitch. 2. Unless you are a seasoned wordsmith, have your affiliate marketing article ghostwritten. The sheer volume of badly written articles – be it diction, grammar, or punctuation – is legion and there is little more embarrassing than having your customers point out a number of mistakes and error. 3. Fact-check your articles. This is vital when you use statistical data but also quotes. 4. Keep it pithy. 400 to 500 words are more than sufficient to write a worthwhile piece of non fiction to market your company, good, or service. Exceeding the 800 word count is pushing it. 5. Do not put all of your advertising eggs in one basket but instead commission (if you use a ghostwriter) a number of articles that look at the topic and product form a number of different angles. This puts volume behind your marketing campaign and while one approach may not appeal to your readers, another one might have just the hook you need to get the reader to turn into a buyer. 6. Do not overdo the pitch in your affiliate marketing article. Sure, you want everyone to know that your products and company at the cat’s meow, but unless you tempter substance with advertising, you will not find too many readers. 7. Advertise one thing only per article. Choose your product, your company, or an email newsletter you are offering for free. Cutting down on the things marketed permit for the development of a great strategy throughout the article. 8. Forgetting to include an opt-in link to your mailing list or email newsletter subscription database is perhaps the most egregious of the 10 deadly sins of an affiliate marketing article. Each article that is not offering that option simply is not working hard enough for you! 9. Having too many articles that differ in tone. While some articles may lend themselves to be spunky but intellectual, the failure to have your article ghostwritten by one writer will lead to a number of different skill levels to craft your work. Instead, request that one freelancer be given the assignment to make sure the tone remains similar. 10. Last but not least, cutting and pasting freely available material from the Internet is a deadly sin that might not get you in trouble, but it will show that your company has nothing new to offer.
